Back to School Balloons: First Day Surprises That Actually Land
The first day of school is one of about four days a year that a kid will actually remember in detail. The outfit gets planned. The photo gets taken on the porch. The backpack is still clean.
What almost nobody plans is the part that happens after the bus pulls away, or the part that happens when they walk back in the door at three o'clock. That is where a balloon bouquet does more work than you would expect for the money.
The Character Bouquets Are the Ones That Land
You can send a nice generic bouquet. It will be fine. But a seven year old who walks in the door and sees Stitch floating over the kitchen table is a different reaction entirely, and you only get a few of those a year.
The Stitch Back to School Balloon Bouquet pairs the character with a "You're the Best" and a "Welcome Back" balloon, so it reads as a first day gift rather than just a leftover birthday balloon. The Bluey version is the one we send most for the kindergarten and first grade crowd.
For an older kid, or for one who is nervous about the first day, the Wonder Woman Back to School Bouquet carries a "You're My Superhero" balloon, which is a better message than "welcome back" for a kid who is not entirely thrilled about the return.
Do Not Forget the Teacher
Teachers get a wave of gifts in June and almost nothing in September, which is backwards. September is when they are actually setting up a room and learning thirty new names.
You do not need a whole bouquet. A single mylar tied to a weight on the desk does the job. The You're The Best and You Rock balloons are the two we sell most for this, and the Good Luck balloon works for a teacher on their first year just as well as it does for a student.
Our Create A Balloon Bouquet builder lets you put together exactly the combination you want if none of the ready made bouquets is quite right. You pick the balloons, we inflate and deliver.
The Add On That Gets Remembered
A cake greeting card is a card that arrives with everything inside it to make a cake. It sounds like a gimmick until you watch a kid open one.
The Just Because Cake Card is the one that fits a first day of school, and the Let's Celebrate card works if there is something bigger going on, like a first day at a new school. Both are in our cake greeting cards collection, and both add about twenty dollars to an order.
How the Delivery Actually Works
We deliver across Nassau and Suffolk from our shop in Bethpage, and we do same day when the order comes in early enough. If you want the balloons waiting when the kid gets home, tell us the window and we will work to it.
Helium balloons will hold for several days indoors, so a delivery the night before the first day still looks right the next afternoon. If you would rather not deal with helium timing at all, our Airloonz displays are air filled, stand on the floor, and last for weeks.
Sending outside Long Island? We do that too, through our nationwide network. Call us at 516-501-0135 and we will sort it out.
